A Word or Two About Health: Words as Medicine
This coming Friday I will be part of a fascinating event that includes poets Sarah de Leeuw, Stephen Collis, Hiromi Goto, Fiona Tinwei Lam, Karen Shklanka, and Mark Winston for a talk on writing and trauma at Creating Space: New Directions and Critical Perspectives, a medical conference:
“Poets will offer personal and creative thoughts, anchored in their work in and practice of poetry, about the importance and potential of art to medicine and relationships between creative writing, medical education, healthcare, poetry, and self-care or care-of-others. They will speak to the intersections between the training trajectories in health professions education and the importance and capacity of arts & performance in cultivating well-being during those intense times of learning.”
I hope to add a few more notes about my presentation at a later date…
