That afternoon, home via the Skytrain, I sat down at my kitchen table.
Time arranged itself around a cup of tea, the poem, ‘rival trading posts,’ smoothed out and held:
in silence, the substance of uninterrupted observation, a method.
Here again, the object, with its emanations.”
